Manifesto

UpApplet is a java applet, which is developed to upload image files to the web server. It has several features, which are drag and drop, thumbnails generating, and ftp ... The main reason we launched this project is many similar software or add-ons is either close source or money-cost. Note: this project is an assignment of the course Applied Free Software at ITU

Technical description

The applet is implemented with JDK 1.6. So far it is only tested on windows OS.

Right now the version 0.0 is available on the VCS: http://upapplet.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/upapplet/version%200.0/ ,

List of (sw) requirements

·         easy to use (DnD)

·         image preview (thumbnail)

·         upload through ftp

List of features (timeplan if possible)

·         DnD: allow users to drag and drop source both between applet and local file explorer and between different tables inside the applet.

·         Image file only: only support image file format uploading (png, jpg, gif)

·         Thumbnails: it is able to generate thumbnails

·         Ftp: upload through ftp connection (not implemented yet)

So far, we do not need money, ^O^ if you have experience of dealing with multi-thread with java GUI and be willing to help us. We will be very excited.

The Lite Version 0.1 Demo is available now, code and documents will be updated in a few days. by that time, the bug tracker will work. We hope can see you again at that time. What’s more, any suggestion is welcome.
